The ABERG Team, in partnership with Greater Manchester, have been successful in winning a Green Deal Communities Bid from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). The Green Deal Go Early Monitoring Programme funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change has been extended to 2015. The project looks at 35 sample properties to understand the impact of retrofit on the performance of the properties. It considers the fabric, energy use and occupant factors that drive the performance of the properties to understand the impact that retrofit has had, not only on the technical performance of the properties, but also on individuals lives. The University of Salford hosted a national meeting to form a building performance group. More than 30 attendees met to share project information and discuss the forming of a community of practice around the understanding of building performance projects and methods. The ambitious project saw a whole house retrofit of the Salford Energy House, with detailed monitoring of the fabric and energy performance, with the impact of each individual measure being assessed.
