MA Wildlife Documentary Production graduate is nominated for Jackson Hole award

Shaz Syed, an MA Wildlife Documentary Production graduate has been shortlisted for the prestigious Jackson Hole Award in the ‘Best Emerging Science Filmmaker’ category for his film When the Peacocks Sing.

The documentary was filmed in Rajasthan in Northwest India and focuses on the country’s rich and dynamic landscape, which changes from dry and arid to green and fertile during the monsoon season, and the effects these changes have on the local wildlife – monkeys, tigers and of course, peacocks. read more

With the introduction of the BA (Hons) Performance: Comedy Practices pathway in recent years, our commitment to producing successful professional comedians has never been stronger.

The Edinburgh Fringe festival is the mecca for comedians from across the globe, where acts of all levels of experience get to prove how funny they are in front of comedy connoisseurs and fellow funnymen. Award winning Graphic Design student shares her experiences

The University of Salford prides itself on its record of producing extremely high calibre design graduates.  Not only is this proved by the fact that many of our students go on to achieve high levels of success in their careers once they graduate, but also by the various awards that are handed out to Salford students each year.

Heather Metcalfe is one such student who, during her time studying BA (Hons) Graphic Design, has won not just one, but three prestigious awards; two YCN student awards and a much coveted D&AD ‘In Book’ award. read more

Salford student wins Graduate Fashion Week photography award

For anyone studying fashion at degree level, Graduate Fashion Week is one of the most important dates in the calendar. It is a chance for final year students from across the country to showcase their work in front of key figures from the fashion industry.

The University of Salford always make a splash at Graduate Fashion Week, receiving praise from the likes of renowned fashion blogger Susie Lau in previous years. This year was especially successful thanks to BA Fashion Image Making & Styling student Lloyd Rimmer and Mayling Wong, who won first and second place respectively in the Fashion Photography Award. read more

Salford graduate scoops top journalism award

A former University of Salford postgraduate student has scooped a top industry award in journalism – just a year after she graduated.

A panel of leading industry professionals judged that Sian Davies, 27, who now works at The Plymouth Herald, was the best young journalist in the South West of England.

Sian landed the award after securing a trainee reporter job while completing the MA Journalism programme at Salford, which is accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). She has since been promoted to the post of Health Reporter at The Plymouth Herald. read more
