What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

A number of assessors and supervisors identified in learner information file/ in welcome booklet. Assessor to be allocated prior to placement commencing where possible. All assessors and supervisors have access to training on NMC SSSA standards

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?

9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday

What patient care situations are available in this placement?

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is proud to be the lead provider of substance use treatment and recovery service in the boroughs of Bury, Bolton, Salford and Trafford.

Under the name ‘Achieve’ we focus on delivering innovative and high performing substance use treatment and recovery with our partners using a proven approach that will promptly identify and support people affected by alcohol or drug use into appropriate treatment. We are committed to improving health and social outcomes for service users and families allowing more people to make a meaningful recovery from drug and alcohol use.

Achieve Bury, Bolton, Salford and Trafford provides a service which has a sustainable impact on the health and wellbeing of the residents of Bury, Bolton, Salford and Trafford which will reduce the impact of alcohol and drug use on children, young people and families.

We work collaboratively with a wide spectrum of local health and social care providers with specific focus on relationships with mental health services, criminal justice agencies, the third sector and other organisations who are involved in the promotion of recovery and rehabilitation.

We provide drug and alcohol treatment and recovery services to individuals, families and communities. We take a person-focused approach, encouraging positive, lasting change to support wellbeing and help people achieve their potential.

What core clinical skills can be learnt?

As part of Addiction Services, learners will be encouraged to develop a collaborative approach, placing the healthcare needs of the service users at the centre of planning care. The aim of the team is to ensure that service users are given the highest standard of care, which is non-judgemental, person centred & evidence based.

Achieve Recovery Service’s exists to provide advice, support and treatment to individuals, their families, carers and the wider communities to reduce the harms caused by drug and alcohol.

We aim to provide an accessible service to enable individuals to gain control of their lives by improving their physical and mental health.

We recognise that people need to achieve stability in other areas of their lives and actively support them to gain access to housing, education, employment and other support networks.

Through our work with Criminal Justice agencies, we aim to reduce drug related offending and promote safe communities. Achieve recovery services embraces the recovery agenda.
