About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
On arrival learners will be provided with a welcome pack, a proposed timetable and an orientation to the department
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
There are supervisors and assessors on the team who are trained and experiences in supervising and assessing learners. Learners will be allocated a named assessor and supervisor prior to arrival.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Monday 08:00-18:10
Tuesday 08:00-18:10
Wednesday Day Off
Thursday Day Off
Friday 08:00-18:10
Saturday 08:00-12:00
Sunday 08:00-12:00
On a weekend off week staff work Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00.
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
Assessment of patients with alcohol issues on various Wards/Departments across the hospital.
Care Planning and Evaluating Packages of care.
MDTs.
1-2-1 Clinic Outpatient Appointments delivering structured psychosocial interventions and education.
Training in a variety of subjects is available including alcohol and management of alcohol withdrawal syndrome.

Access the right support and help for you in the community.
Students must wear their uniform and ID badge at all times. Students will be supported with regular supervisions.
