What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

The Discharge Lounge provides a safe environment for patients awaiting discharge home; nursing care is continued during the time spent on the unit.
A variety of areas utilise this service such as A+E; inpatient services and outpatient departments
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
The Discharge Lounge staff have a wealth of experience supporting students; for students requiring a mentor there are 3 Registered Nurses who hold this qualification; the supervisor/assessor roles are also undertaken by these staff
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Early:
7:30 to 15:30
Late:
12:00 to 20:00
Night:
Shift Notes:
Long Days:- 7:30 to 20:00
Weekends:- 9:00 to 17:00
Note:The Discharge Lounge is not open over night

Adults over the age of 18 years awaiting discharge home that day
