Friday Half day either 8:15 – 1pm or 1pm – 5pm
Students can alter day off duty on request
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
Clinics – Out patients dealing with referral from dentist or GP Trauma referrals from A&E Theatre – Minor oral surgery under local anaesthetic &/or for Dental extractions and soft tissues biopsies, Main theatre – Day case surgery under general anaesthetic.

- Theatre Skills – setting up theatre, scrub technique.
- Dressings and structure removal, managing own work load – clinic
What additional clinical skills can be learnt?
Dealing with special needs patients, Nurse led Pre assessment Clinic, Pediatric care – management of patients undergoing treatments in out patients setting.

Blackburn Royal Infirmary – Oral surgery dept, including Head and Neck Clinic – multidisciplinary team managing patients with Head and Neck Cancer.
Additional Information
Day Placements – Churchill Unit – oncology dept at Bolton, Infection Control Team, Histopathology Dept, Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic/Ward, HSDU, Lever Chambers Community Dental Dept dealing with patients with special needs.
