About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

Student nurses will develop an understanding of the role of the Primary Care Mental Health Nurse and Healthy Minds whilst on placement.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Assessors are allocated on a rotational basis although we operate a team mentorship model
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Early:
Late:
Night:
Shift Notes:
9am – 5pm approximately.
Monday to Friday. Usually 9am to 5pm depending on patient needs and mentor work patterns.
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
Students will be able to gain experience of observing and being involved in nursing interventions.
Students will be able to see how the interface works between members of the wider multi-disciplinary team in patient care.
What nursing model is used for planning care?
The team provide brief interventions which offer a wide range of psychological, practical and supportive interventions for patients.
What core clinical skills can be learnt?
Assessment, Planning, Intervention and Evaluation of patient care.
What additional clinical skills can be learnt?
Develop an understanding of the variety of therapy models which are used in Healthy Minds.
What resources are available to help students learning?
Computers are available so a student can have access to the internet and intranet.
What research and practice development activities are being undertaken?
Spoke Placements
The opportunity for a variety of spoke placements are available. Spoke placements can be discussed with the student nurse which are appropriate for the current competencies which need to be achieved.

Healthy Minds work primarily remotely at home or office by telephone and computers.
