About this placement

What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

Everyone is allocated a mentor prior to their arrival

Everyone meets either their mentor or associate mentor (Registrant) on their first day and is orientated to the Ward and Hospital.

Everyone is given a Student Welcome pack and Highbank Induction/orientation pack.

What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

All mentors have regular updates as planned

Students work at least two shifts a week with their mentor/associate mentor.

Protected time to complete initial, mid and final reviews.

Access to computers and Internet.

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?

Night:

1 week maximum (20.15 – 07.45)

Shift Notes:

Days:   07.30- 20.30

The shift patterns worked by full time staff are long days 07.30-20.30 Night shifts 20.15-07.45.

The student would normally follow the shift pattern of their mentor/associate mentor.  However the placement can be flexible.

The students are also able to access most of The Priory’s training programme which would normally take place between 09.00-17.00.

What patient care situations are available in this placement?

Robinson House –  Attendance at MDT Meetings, CPA Meetings, MHA Tribunal Meetings, Care Planning, Risk Assessments, staff meetings, Patient community meetings (your voice) 1-1 sessions with patients, involvement in community outings/access, ward based activities, delivering care to patients, meetings patients physical, personal and mental healthcare needs.

Walmersley Unit – Attendance at Team meetings, Case conferences; Care planning, risk assessments, Referral Assessments; Ward based activities, delivering care to patients, meeting their physical medical and personal healthcare needs.

Lynne House – Attendance at Team meetings, Case conferences, School visits, LAC meetings,Care Planning, Risk Assessments, referral assessments, delivering care to patients, meeting their physical medical and personal healthcare needs.
