What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Induction programme offered details of spoke placements including Admiral Nurse Service.

Students have named mentor/assessor, meet on a regular basis.

Community placements Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
Work with older people with mental health problems within their own homes. Our work covers all areas of mental health including both organic and functional illnesses.
What nursing model is used for planning care?
Assessments of needs using Ropers Model. Care planning using CPA.
What core clinical skills can be learnt?
Communication, assessing needs of older people, use of tools such as MMSE and GDS.
What additional clinical skills can be learnt?
Collaborative working, multidisciplinary working.
What resources are available to help students learning?
Student information pack, access to Trust intranet, internet wide availability of reading materials.
What research and practice development activities are being undertaken?
Practice development – regular CPA audits, utilise evidence based practice, clinical supervision.
