What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

All Students are allocated a mentor or associate mentor to support them in practice; we can also accommodate third year final students with the support of a sign off mentor.

All mentor/associates and sign off mentors are updated on an annual basis as required by the NMC (2008) and are registered on the live register for mentors held by the Practice Education Facilitators.

In the event of your allocated mentor being unavailable for annual leave or sickness alternative arrangements will be made to support your practice and development.

Additional Information

The Memory Assessment Service promotes the early identification of dementia by encouraging people to attend a specialist assessment, with patients referred to the service by their GP following initial tests.

Additional support and management can be offered post diagnosis by various members of the multi-disciplinary team. If dementia is diagnosed we provide treatment, care and support as needed following diagnosis, which includes a comprehensive range of evidence-based interventions alongside medication (if appropriate) for all forms of dementia.

The majority of memory clinics are run at Woodlands Hospital while some are held at the Meadowbrook Unit, based on the Salford Royal site ( Meadowbrook Unit, Stott Lane, Salford, M6 9HD).
