About this placement

What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

Please dowlnoad the Student Welcome Pack prior to commencing your placement.

Students will be given and induction by their named mentor/named member of staff they are working with. Introduction to staff and environment. Complete initial assessment.

What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

Team mentoring approach, students given a named mentor and associate mentor but will work with all members of staff as appropriate.

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?

Shift Notes:

08.30- 17.00 seven days a week.

Weekends to be worked as agreed with your mentor within the University guidelines.

What patient care situations are available in this placement?

Clinic based, some home visits are carried out.

What nursing model is used for planning care?

Adapted Roper, Logan and Tierney Activities of Daily Living

What core clinical skills can be learnt?

ANTT, wound care, clinical assessment, delegation, completion and development of care plans

What additional clinical skills can be learnt?

Lymphoedema management, negative pressure wound therapy, compression bandaging

What resources are available to help students learning?

Access to internet/intranet, file of student resources, access to experienced staff.
