About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Introduction to staff and orientation to the unit. Welcome pack given and an introduction to community services. Meeting with mentor / mentors to discuss objectives.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
You will be allocated a mentor and associate mentor prior to commencing your placement.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Early:
7.30am-15.30pm
Late:
13:30am-20:00pm
Night:
19:30pm-08.00am
Shift Notes:
Nursing staff work 3 long days per week from 07:30 till 20:00 You will be allocated to the short shifts identified above but are able to discuss the possibility of working the long days with your mentor as appropriate.
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
Discharge from Acute site for rehabilitation / regain independence. Admission from community to prevent hospital admission. Admission for IV antibiotics.
