About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Students will already have been allocated 2 ward based mentors and 1 lab based mentor prior to commencement. Their first weeks rota will have been planned in advance of their commencement, however it is negotiable.
During the first week, the students will attend an Introduction to the Ward session. This gives an overview of the Ward as a clinical placement.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
We aim to ensure that each student is rostered to work with one of their mentors on at least 3 of their 4/5 shifts per week. Each student is given 2 mentors to allow for continuity if staff are required to do night duty or to cover for annual leave. Students will also spend time in the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab and will be assigned a mentor whilst there.
