What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
We have an in-depth orientation package
Students are shown around the unit
Introduced to mentor and staff
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Each student is allocated a mentor on starting his or her placement. Students are able to follow their mentors off duty where possible

Students can work four long days or spread their hours over five days due to staff working both these shift patterns
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
We care for patients, pre and post endoscopy procedures on the ward. We also care for patients during their endoscopy in theatre

Roper, Logan and Tierney and also Orems model

Our goal is to provide optimal care and thereby enhance the quality of life for patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic endoscopy procedures and other treatments and investigations. This will be accomplished by members of a multi disciplinary health care team whose practice is governed by ethics and professional codes of conduct, the patients needs being the primary focus for all concerned.
