About this placement

What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

Prior to commencement of your placement your off duty will be confirmed, and your mentor will be allocated. It is recommended when ringing the placement to recommend a visit to the unit when your mentor is on duty. The aim of the visit is to allow you to meet your mentor and be oriented to the placement before you start. This may help overcome any nervousness you may have. An orientation pack will be given to you to take away any read to explain the structure of the placement its philosophy, and learning opportunities.

What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

All students will be allocated their mentor before they start, they will be ready to weolcome you on your first day.

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?

Early:

07.30 – 15.30

Late:

12.30 – 20.30

Night:

20.00 – 08.00

What patient care situations are available in this placement?

We care for patients with dementia or a degree of confusion, who are medically unwell and need to be in hospital. We cover all aspects of care, in a comfortable home like environment, as research shows a speedier recovery. Then planning for a safe discharge.
