About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
- Allocation of Practice Assessor and Supervisor
- Student Orientation Pack and Orientation tour of the Ward environment
- Off duty negotiated – hard copy of student off duty is at the nursing station
- Initial Interview
- If students e-mail PEL prior to commencement of placement they will be sent a Student Pack and off duty can be arranged
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
PA and PS are informed who their student will be. The student’s off duty mirrors that of the PA/PS where possible. See hardcopy student off duty at the nursing station.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Long shifts – 7:30am to 8:30pm
Night shifts – 8pm to 8am
Students can work short shifts but still have to work thirty-seven and a half hours per week.
