About this placement

What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

  1. Allocation of Practice Assessor and Supervisor
  2. Student Orientation Pack and Orientation tour of the Ward environment
  3. Off duty negotiated – hard copy of student off duty is at the nursing station
  4. Initial Interview
  5. If students e-mail PEL prior to commencement of placement they will be sent a Student Pack and off duty can be arranged

What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

PA and PS are informed who their student will be. The student’s off duty mirrors that of the PA/PS where possible. See hardcopy student off duty at the nursing station.

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?

Long shifts –  7:30am to 8:30pm

Night shifts – 8pm to 8am

Students can work short shifts but still have to work thirty-seven and a half hours per week.

Reasonable Adjustments may be made where appropriate.
