About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Students will recieve a Welcome Pack and their off duty.
Student will be allocated a locker for use during their placement.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Each student will be allocated an assessor and is encouraged to follow their off duty.
Students are expected to work with their assessor as much as possible.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Early:
07:30am – 15:30pm
Late:
12.30 – 20.30
Night:
20.00 – 08.00

Long Day:- 07.30 – 20.30
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
There is a lot of leadership and management issues, Ward F9 is a nurse-led unit.
All students will learn how to plan a good discharge. Communication is very important on Ward F9 and lounge.

Basic nursing care
Catheter care
Ensuring nutritional needs are met
Pressure area care
Mouth care
Occasionally PEG, IV therapies

We are a very busy discharge unit and are dementia friendly.
We have a dementia garden, memory boxes , old Oldham photo’s etc
