Additional Information

Caring is the major focus of nursing within the general Surgical Directorate. By using a recognised model and the process of nursing, both qualified and unqualified staff aim to fill the self-care deficits within a patient’s daily living activities, brought on by ill health.

The nursing team on E4 ward and the Surgical Directorate embrace a philosophy which is committed to providing:

  • A high standard of care underpinned with research based practice and knowledge.
  • A flexible environment which encompasses, supports and respects physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of our patients, their relatives and carers.
  • A humanistic approach to recognise when illness becomes overwhelming and permits a peaceful and dignified death.
  • A culture committed to continuing education, which provides support and guidance to individuals in their own pursuit of professional development objectives.
