About this placement

What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

Orientation to the ward, welcome pack and first 2 weeks off duty emailed prior to placement commencing.

Introduction to named mentor

Dates and times set for initial meeting

What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

Mentors that have been allocated students will have various knowledge, experience and skills. You will be expected to work at least 40% of your shifts with your named mentor.

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?

Shift Notes:

Long Day 0700-1930

Night shift 1900-0730

What patient care situations are available in this placement?

M2 is a 35 bedded acute general medical ward, patients that are admitted to us come with various conditions, ranging from exacerbation of COPD, and Community acquired pneumonia, cellulitis, infected ulcers, and falls, delirium, UTI’s, and palliative patient’s.
