About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
Orientation to department, currently over 2 floors and 4 clinical units
Introduction to Assessor/ Supervisor
Pare documentation to be completed with 24 hours of commencing placement
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Students are allocated an Assessor and supervisor prior to commencing placement

2 X 7.00 -19.30 shifts.
1 x 7.00 -21.30 shift
Working over 3 days Monday – Friday
Notes:
The opens at 07.00 and closes at 21.30
Staff complete their shifts over 3 days.
We do not work nights, weekends, or Bank Holidays

Student welcome packs are available by email. Please contact the ward providing an email address so that you can print a copy off and bring to placement.
As a student nurse you will remain supernumerary whilst on placement
Please contact the ward in advance for your off duty and pre-placement visit if you wish
Listed below are a few house keeping rules to consider prior to and whilst on placement:
Punctuality: Please be punctual for the start time of your shift and always ask the nurse in charge before leaving at the end of your shift
Uniform: Please adhere to the university uniform policy foir student nurses.
Please do not attend with acrylic nails or wearing nail varnish.
Watches are not to be worn.
Please always keep your ID badge with you
