About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
The Student will be allocated an Assessor and Supervisor and be sent their first weekly rota along with a Welcome Pack.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
PEL’s allocated Supervisor / Assessor prior to placement start date.
Supervisor / Assessor plan to meet with Student on the first day for induction and orientation.
Supervisor / Assessor to plan rota’s for Student.
Supervisor / Assessor to meet with Student at regular intervals to complete PARE.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
MON 8.30 – 5pm
TUE 8.30 – 5pm
WED 8.30 – 6pm (6PM FINISHES VARY EACH WEEK)
THURS 8.30 – 1pm
FRI 8.30 – 5pm
Notes:
Shift pattern for Mohs and Daily Dressings is 07:00 – 15:30
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
Exposure to a variety of clinics / skin conditions.
Exposure to a variety of theatre settings e.g. Laser, Mohs and General Derm Theatre
Exposure to a variety of clinic skills e.g. ANTT, Venepuncture, Swabs, Urinalysis.
Students will be able to develop both communication and clinical skills.
What nursing model is used for planning care?
The Roper-Logan-Tierney Model.

Observing in theatres
Observing and taking part in time management within Clinic settings
Communication skills
Students will also discuss with staff competencies what need to be met and arrangements for these to be met can be made on the department or spoke placements.

Continuous research and development ongoing – Research Team work along side clinics such as Psoriasis and Eczema.

Additional Information
Basic Anatomy and Physiology of the Skin which will help to understand the disease process within dermatology and the choice of treatment management plans.
