MA Public Relations and Digital Communications
Nigerian-born Esseoghene joined University of Salford in January 2015, to study Corporate Law before moving onto a Masters in Public Relations and Digital Communications. During her foundation year, she was elected as Student Representative by her peers and has been working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with, fellow student mentors, to ensure effective cross-referrals regarding student support. This experience was furthered by her role at Citizens Advice, centred around civil rights claims and social action.
Between 2018 and 2019, she provided free legal aid as a legal companion of the CLOCK (Community Legal Outreach Collaboration) scheme to disadvantaged communities in Manchester, guiding claimants through their legal cases. One of her most recent and highly scored assignments included a PR campaign for Skarlette, a lingerie company designed for women post breast cancer surgery. Her talents and drive know no bounds as she also finds time to act as President of the Salford Strivers Society, a diversity initiative for Salford students through social media, whilst also being the co-founder of The News Club.
Esseoghene says “It feels exhilarating to be shortlisted. It feels like my effort and hard work are being recognised, which makes me want to work even harder. If I were to put my feelings on being nominated as a quote, it would be this quote by Paulo Coelho — ‘When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.’ So, I am ever grateful that the universe has used the University of Salford to keep me going, o let me know that I can become unstoppable and build a successful career in my areas of interest. Being nominated feels like the stepping stone that I needed, now I am more willing and able to finish climbing up the flight of stairs.”
