Connah Martin

BA (Hons) Digital Media

Connah’s work has been described by his tutors as “an outstanding example of design, with the potential of XR technologies to engage with new users and create customised experiences”. During his final year, Connah has been developing a high-quality prototype for an AR-based mobile application. This app allows the user to pre-visualise different tattoos in real-time using VUFORIA technologies combined with the Unity game engine. His incredibly professional application prototype is now fully functional and has the capacity for developing a new shared IP.

The development of this work demonstrates Connah’s enthusiasm to engage fully with his subject area and his genuine entrepreneurial spirit. He first developed the concept of his idea during the summer break, before returning in September to hit the creative ground running. He is now generation different iterations of the app every three to four weeks and has incorporated feedback from students and lecturers as part of his technical development. Connah’s output as an undergraduate has been marvellous and his passion for digital media will definitely take him far professionally.

Connah says “Being a Create Student Awards 2022 finalist is a fantastic opportunity for me to showcase my work to the public and to future industry employers.”
