Fatima Khan

BA (Hons) English Literature

Fatima has gone way above-and-beyond the expectations of an undergraduate student, producing original and independent research and consistently high quality work. Beyond university, Fatima strives to keep improving and developing her skills and performance. Her dedication and incredible talent as a creative writer can be seen through her impressive original poetry work, which she shares through social media.

Over the last three years, Fatima has developed her leadership skills, guiding discussion in her seminars and has been actively involved in supporting her peers. Fatima volunteers for the peer-learning service, Rafiki, listening to and encouraging other students through complex situations. Fatima also acts as Student Representative for her course, ensuring that student voices are heard and representing them in a positive and constructive manner.

Fatima is committed to improving the visibility of the University of Salford, applying for international opportunities and regularly representing Salford at the reading groups which she contributes to in her spare time across Greater Manchester. She is a model student through-and-through and we are excited to see where her talents take her following graduation. Fatima says “I feel very blessed and honoured to have been shortlisted for such an amazing award. I have enjoyed writing since I was a child, and during my time at the University of Salford I have learned about some of the best works of literature by such passionate lecturers, which has made me fall even more in love with writing. Being shortlisted for this award feels like a recognition of the passion that I have which makes me feel so happy and makes this nomination feel really special. I am grateful to have been nominated and feel inspired to continue to push myself out of my comfort zone and create more and more poetry.”
