2 – Purchase an E-Careers Course

Discount sites such as Groupon quite often offer deals with significant savings on e-Careers courses. At the moment, there is a range of courses for just £10 (a 90% saving) that when you sign-up will give you student status to enable you to purchase a student discount card. This could also be a good opportunity to study a new language or gain an additional qualification to help you to secure your dream job.

3 – Postgraduate Study

You can’t lose your discounts if you continue to study! Signing up for a postgraduate course at the University of Salford will allow you to continue enjoying all the perks that come with student life. However, it is of course important to remember that furthering your discounts should not be the ONLY reason you choose to continue your studies.

4 – 16-25 Railcard

For just £30 a year, or £70 for a three-year card, you can receive significant discounts (⅓) on rail travel. This is well worth investing in if you travel by rail frequently, however it’s worth noting that if you plan to commute to a place of work by train, railcard fares aren’t offered between 4:30AM and 10:00AM.

5 – Restaurant Discounts

Meerkat Meals via Compare the Market offers 2 for 1 one starters, main courses, and desserts at many participating restaurants as well as cinema discounts. You can access these discounts by simply purchasing a one-day domestic, single-trip travel insurance, which can start from as little as £1-2, so this really is a top tip. Find out more via MSE.

6 – Family Spotify

If you’re a Spotify user, the price of your membership will jump up by 50% when you’re no longer classed as a student. However, if you still plan to live with friends or a partner, you can benefit from Spotify Premium Family. Five people residing in the same household can share one membership, at £15, and split the cost, so you could end up getting an even cheaper rate than when you were a student!

7 – Netflix Premium

With Netflix premium, you can have up to four users on one account, and each member is able to use the service simultaneously. At £15.99, you can share your membership with four friends and enjoy all the perks of Netflix for just under £4 per month!

8 – Cashback Sites & Bank Accounts

Utilise cashback sites and consider switching who you bank with to gain a small percentage back on what you spend with certain brands.

Some banks offer cash rewards when you switch your account over to them, as well as offering small savings on regular energy bills. Barclays, Natwest and RBS are just some of the banks that have great cash reward opportunities.

Cashback sites also offer some great returns when you click through them to spend with retailers and product providers. It’s important to remember however that you aren’t always guaranteed the cashback from these sites and the cash isn’t yours until it hits your bank account.

When done correctly, redeeming these rewards can see you gain £100s per year, just for spending as you normally would.

9 – Loyalty Cards & Programs

The retail and hospitality space is becoming increasingly competitive and so many brands offer amazing incentives to try and win your business. Some of our favorite loyalty schemes are the following:

Boots Advantage Card

With the Boots Advantage Card, you earn 4 points for every £1 spent, and every 100 points collected provides you with £1 to spend in-store or online. You can use your Boots Advantage Card points as you shop throughout the year, or save them up for occasions such as Christmas, holidays or birthdays.

Sainsbury’s Nectar Card

Although it’s best known for the perks it offers at Sainsbury’s, a Nectar card can be used at many different places including Homebase, House of Fraser, BP, Vision Express, Expedia when booking holidays, buying on Ebay, or paying bills with British Gas. With a nectar card you earn one point for every £1 spent, but only one point per litre of fuel and they’re worth half a penny each meaning you need 200 points to earn £1. This may seem small, but regular promotions are run to help you boost your points.

Tesco Clubcard

Tesco Clubcard works by collecting points to earn vouchers, which you can then spend in-store. You can also get voucher rewards to use at Clubcard Reward Partners like Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge and Alton Towers. Earn one point per £1 spent in-store and online, and one point per £2 on fuel.

It’s so important to remember that loyalty cards and store credit cards are very different things. Don’t be tricked into signing up for a store credit card instead of a points card, as you could run the risk of getting yourself into debt. Ensure you fully understand the terms and conditions that come with loyalty and store cards before you opt in.
