The New Year Honours List recognises the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom.

A number of University of Salford alumni have been recognised in King Charles III’s first New Year Honours List, including:

  • Alok Sharma – Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG)Alok graduated in 1988 and studied Physics. He has been knighted for his services to tackling climate change.
     
  • Elizabeth Scott – Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)Elizabeth is Client Engagement Director of Tech Nation. She studied BSc Business Studies: Marketing Management, graduating in 2001. Liz has been awarded the MBE for services to the technology sector.
     
  • Martyn Davies – Medal of the Order of the British Empire (BEM)Martyn studied BSc Adult Nursing, graduating in 2012. He is the owner and manager of Urmston Manor care home and was awarded a BEM for services to care home residents in Manchester.
