Day three of ICZ month brings us to our partnership with Manchester Storm, an elite ice hockey team based in Altrincham where two of our alumni, Sam Bell and Craig Collier, currently work.
We’re giving players the chance to study for their Masters in Business Administration at the Salford Business School. The course offers real-world career experiences including international work placements and flexible working opportunities, meaning they can combine working and playing.
Coach Ryan Finnerty said: “It’s huge for me as a coach to have these programmes available, it opens so many doors to players we possibly couldn’t attain otherwise.
“Any player that takes up the MBA programme is fully aware that it’s hockey first and foremost, that’s their primary job here, but having heard what I have about the amazing staff at Salford Uni, I know the players will be very well supported throughout their studies and will be able to combine both roles easily.”
Two MBA students are currently working on their Business Innovation Live Project (BILP) with Manchester Storm, supporting the club’s management in a consultancy-style placement. Three players have already completed the year-long course, and we’re pleased to announce that another six will be joining us this year (four on the MBA programme and two on the postgraduate International Business programme).
