After months of extensive planning and rigorous hard work the first stage of The Library’s £6.2 million development project is complete.
The second floor opened in mid-October with stark design, clear lines of sight and bright splashes of #libraryinthepark green fully transforming the learning space.
The new study areas have been designed to meet the needs of all our students and the positive response received so far has served as a great fillip as we ready ourselves to begin stage two – the re-development of the first floor.
The first floor is now closed, except for the computer rooms, which incidentally host IT Services’ daily help desk between 12 and 2pm. The books are being moved to the ground floor and during the re-location we have set up a book retrieval service to help things run smoothly – please ask if you can’t find the book you’re looking for. The work on the first floor is expected to last until January. When the first floor opens the library development project will pause until June, ensuring that the main study and exam period will be unaffected by the work.
We’re very grateful for all the patience that library users have shown during the project and will throw a thank you event in mid-November on the ground floor with a library in the park picnic theme. More details to follow…
