An open dialogue between developers and local people is essential if Greater Manchester is to address its growing housing shortage, according to two of the city region’s high profile politicians.

Speaking at the fourth annual Construction Summit North, both the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham and Salford Mayor Paul Dennett called for a major rethink of housing policy.

The event, organised by Salford Professional Development and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, brought developers, policy advisers and academics together to discuss some of the biggest challenges facing the sector.
