Forecasting Environmental Change: Call for Networks

24th April 2014 (register Intent to submit by 20th March 2014)

£2m available to fund up to 4 networks

The Living with Environmental Change and Mathematical Sciences themes in EPSRC invite applications for proposals to support networking of researchers in the following topic areas identified from a scoping workshop held in Newport in 2013:

  • New Tools for Modelling of Environmental Change
  • Forecasting of Impacts: Adaptation and Mitigation Choices
  • Decision Support Tools for Environmental Change Forecasts

The purpose of this call is to provide an opportunity for the mathematical sciences and environmental change communities to build widespread linkages to further develop the challenges outlined by the scoping workshop. There is provision within this scheme to fund small scale pilot studies through the activities of the successful networks. EPSRC expect the applicant team to consist of a mathematical scientist PI and an environmental change scientist or other relevant discipline researcher, where appropriate, as Co-I.

There is an expectation that all proposals received will seek to involve a wide breadth of relevant communities, including LWEC partner organisations and be complimentary to current RCUK funded activities including:

Not stated

It is expected that in the preparation of the network proposal thorough consultation with the relevant communities is sought and the appropriate people are involved in the network. Applicants should aim to engage with academics, industrialists, relevant policy makers and other stakeholders (such as LWEC partners) during the preparation of their proposal.
