Aim | Industrial CASE Studentships provide support for PhD students working on projects that involve joint supervision of the student by a member of staff at an academic or related institution and an employee of a non-academic organisation, such as a UK industrial firm, public sector organisation or charity.
CASE Studentships provide doctoral students with a first-rate, challenging research training experience, within the context of a mutually beneficial research collaboration between academic and partner organisations in the private, public and civil sectors. Impact is one of the CASE scheme’s main criteria. Applications must demonstrate the potential for societal or economic impact through collaboration with the CASE partner and the provision of high quality training in research skills. BBSRC, MRC, NERC and STFC have aligned their annual call dates. See the links below for details of the individual schemes and specific eligibility criteria. |
Length | 3 – 4 years |
Eligibility | Proposals must include an academic supervisor at a UK Higher Education Institution, Research Council Institute or Independent Research Organisation and a supervisor at non-academic partner organisation. Where the non-academic partner is a company, it must have an established UK based research and/or commercial production capability. |
