Newton Fund calls for international activities

The Newton Fund has three new calls open, all with a deadline of 4pm GMT on 27th June.

All proposals should address one of the following challenge areas in order to meet the Overseas Development Assistance criteria: Agriculture, Climate and environment, Sustainable energy for all, Education research and innovation for development, Economic growth, Health,  Water and sanitation, Food and nutrition,  Demographic change and migration,  Rural and urban development,  Infrastructure,  Humanitarian disasters and emergencies, disaster risk reduction,  Resilient and connected communities,  Governance, society and conflict, Development-relevant data collection, quality and access.

However, each partner country has its own specific thematic priorities that can be found in the guidelines (links below).

Institutional Links

Institutional Links grants are designed to support the development of sustainable links between research groups in the UK and overseas through awards of between £50,000 and £350,000.

Partners are eligible from the following countries: Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Philippines, Thailand (Mexico‘s participation will be confirmed by the end of April 2016).

Researcher Links

Researcher Links Travel Grants are designed to support stays in partner countries of between one and six months for early career researchers. Visits should enable the development of enduring links and collaborations, capacity building in the host country, and career development.

Visits by researchers to and from the following countries are eligible: Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Turkey.

Workshop grants

Workshop grants support the attendance of early career researchers at workshops in partner countries in order to make international connections that improve the quality of their research.

Partners are eligible from the following countries: Brazil, Egypt, India, Turkey and South Africa (Mexico may participate  – notification will be posted on the schemes’ website).
