It’s here – Welcome to the Festival of Research 2021!
Day 1 of the Festival of Research is here, we have 10 days packed full of activities all about research! We kick off today with SPARC – Salford Postgraduate Annual Researcher Conference, with over 80 presentations and out keynote today Dr Michelle Howarth and tomorrow Ruby Wax OBE and a musical/art composition tomorrow evening.
We then move into a day focussed on Failure and encourage you to have funs and fail with us, exploring failure freedom and using failure as a tool towards success. We have activity packs to download over the weekend, such as as the tree trial around Peel Park.
Moving into next week, we start next week by considering the ‘Art of Change’ a discussion based conference to look at co-creation, creativity and Covid, connecting the themes and exploring positive ways forward. Our Café Research explores the wider researcher community such as the contribution our technicians make, and finding practical pathways through research such as navigating PGR opportunities for staff and professionals and how we can have meaningful conversations with industry, network and join established networks.
The creativity theme continues with live dance performances, our online MusicFest and Film Festival in collaboration with The HardRock Cafe Manchester. Working with AdvanceHE, we have a workshop exploring the crossover space of research and teaching and how we can integrate wellbeing into both spaces. Our Doctoral School Summer School and Living Library Live is a great opportunity to be immersed in research and explore directly with our researchers, research methods and approaches, recent books and publications, ask questions and generate ideas.
We close the Festival with Research in the Park (without being in the park). Our online version of Research in the Park considers topics of conservations and sustainability, brining together researchers from a wide range of disciplines to work together on building a more sustainable future. We hope you can join us, find out more here: Festival of Research | University of Salford
