Cari Morris – Winner

BA (Hons) Journalism: Broadcast

In her third year, Cari documented the entire journey of Sale Sharks and Salford Red Devils’ rugby seasons, shooting and editing coverage for every league game to be used across their social media channels. Following her success with the project, she was appointed as the Red Devil’s official videographer and has made her mark over the last 18 months producing a range of impressive visual content. Cari has an undeniable commitment for becoming a better journalist and content producer. Her motivation, contagious spirit and dedication to developing her skills in cinematography and editing has been admired by all that have worked alongside her. Cari has written articles for Manchester Evening News and in 2019 was shortlisted for the highly competitive Gary Neville Sports Journalist of the Year prize, at the University’s annual Journalism Awards.

Cari says: “The University of Salford has been great for me; I have learnt so much, had so many fantastic experiences and made some incredible friends. Studying in an environment with such talented students, knowledgeable lecturers and expert industry professionals has inspired me to strive to do my best work and believe anything is possible. Coming from a sports journalism background and knowing that my work has been recognised in a male-dominated industry makes me proud. To be shortlisted for the Journalism, Politics and History Award from such a talented peer group is both thrilling and humbling. It justifies the hard work I’ve put in and is a perfect way to end my amazing university experience, for which I can’t thank Salford enough.”
