“The build-up to and anticipation of the annual Create Student Awards, and the evening itself, is always a highlight of the academic year for me. The purpose of the Awards is to recognise the activities that our students undertake not just within their degree subject and study areas, but across the wider School and University through engagement with external communities and industry partners. This year, the judging panel met the week before lockdown to look through each nomination and discuss our chosen final candidates. We were privileged to read all the entries – there is so much good work and enterprising, community spirited activity across the school. It is always hard to narrow the competition down to the shortlist for each award, and this year was particularly tough with so much talent across the board.

I am disappointed we can’t all be together this year, seated at our tables experiencing the ceremony whilst eating, drinking, dancing, networking and enjoying one another’s company. However, the online event does enable us to share the nominated student achievements with staff, students, families and friends, and beyond to our wider industry audience who I know will be tuning in to spot the next generation of talented Salford graduates. Congratulations to each-and-every one of our 25 nominees – you have all done amazingly well. I wish you the best of luck with your creative life after graduation. And do come back and visit when you can!”
