Joshua Gurr – Runner Up

BA (Hons) Music: Popular Music and Recording

Since joining the BA (Hons) Music: Popular Music and Recording programme in 2017, Joshua has consistently impressed tutors with his musical talent and ability to excel. He is the driving creative force behind two bands that have been selected to perform at external University live showcase events at the legendary Northern Quarter venue, Band on The Wall. Joshua is also extremely supportive of his fellow students, regularly sharing his extraordinary maturity and musicality by contributing to their performance projects with the same level of commitment he would apply to his own personal work. Nominator Paul Cusick, Lecturer in Popular Music Performance, says “Josh stands out as the strongest and most creative performer amongst the cohort – a clever, unassuming, respectful and creative individual.”

Joshua says: “It is a huge honour to be recognised for my work amongst the huge pool of talent in my year group, let alone the whole Music and Dance directorate. The last three years I have spent at Salford have been some of the best of my life so far and I have learnt so much from being here. I must thank all of the Music staff and my peers for continuing to inspire me to do my best.”
