Throughout his time at Salford, Matthew demonstrated absolute professionalism and unfaltering attendance. In a tireless quest to diversify, Matthew regularly attends the Fire Jam events to develop his skills with Manchester’s thriving circus community. Matthew has thoroughly embraced his time at university, taking on every opportunity offered and creating many of his own. He has performed professionally with Travelling Light Circus, Meraki Collective, and has contributed to three music/dance videos with one band, a solo singer/songwriter, and for an independent MA project in Leeds. Matthew’s thirst for learning and hunger to know more about his profession has led him to develop his skills by attending aerial and professional classes at WildHawk studio. He has been a true asset to the final year BA (Hons) Dance cohort and destined for success.
Matthew says: “I left school wanting to be a brick-layer, so I embarked on a two-year construction course. During my time at college, I joined a youth dance company called The Brewery Youth Arts (BYA) in Kendal. I was fortunate to work with some truly inspirational people there who encouraged me to study dance at the University. Having started dance relatively late I knew that it was important to be 100% focused in all aspects of my time at university. I feel extremely proud of the level that I have achieved after two years of part-time dance and three years of full-time dance tuition. Being nominated for such a prestigious award is a real honour and has certainly made all the hard work worthwhile.”
