Introduction to staff and ward area

First 1/2 weeks off duty

What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

Students will be allocated Assessor and Supervisor prior to commencing placement.

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?

Shift Notes:

Long days – 07:30 – 20:00 (1hr break)

Nights – 20:00 – 08:00 (1hr break)

What patient care situations are available in this placement?

Caring for patients pre-and-post operatively

Wound care Management.

Medication Management

Assisting with personal hygiene

Insertion of catheters

Removal of sutures/clips/drains/catheters
