Beth Hewitt

Director – Journalism, Politics and Contemporary History / Salford School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology

Beth Hewitt is Director of Creative Technology, Journalism and Politics & Contemporary History. Based at University of Salford’s MediaCity campus, Beth has developed and fostered many sustainable industry collaborations and partnerships with a specific focus on media and the creative technologies. As Director of Nations and Regions: Media Futures, Beth champions new and emerging talent. Aligned with its media partners, Nations and Regions: Media Futures works innovatively and creatively with all sectors of the media and creative industries. 

Having worked for ITV and BBC as Producer Director, Beth joined the University of Salford as Senior Lecturer, where she led MA Documentary Production and then went onto write the UK’s first MA in Children’s Digital Media, working closely with BBC Childrens. 

Beth is also a member of the RTS NW steering committee, and works closely with Manchester International Festival, Screenskills, Edinburgh TV Festival and Media City stakeholders. Passionate about supporting and nurturing future talent, she is committed to creating diverse, inclusive, and creative environments, which empower and enable students, graduates, and early career professionals to collaborate with industry, forming strong networks and developing valuable employability pipelines.
