Tia Brown / WINNER

BA (Hons) Fashion Design

Tia is credited by her Programme Leader, Bashir Aswat, as “an exemplar of studentship and a wonderful human being” which is clear to see from her achievements during her studies. She has acted as Student Representative whilst also supporting staff with external projects, with fellow students praising her positive and infectious enthusiasm. The last year has been a real challenge for all students and Tia has demonstrated her sense of commitment and perseverance with grit, professionalism and conviction.

Academically, her design awareness and creativity are of an exceptionally high standard. During both her first and second years at Salford, Tia was selected to showcase her work at New York Fashion Week. For her industry-based placement module, she applied to work for well known couture brand Victor and Rolf. Up against thousands of other students worldwide, she was successful in being one of only a handful accepted onto their placement programme. Tia is a highly engaged, driven and modest student with a talent that will certainly continue to grow.

Tia says “My time at university has created the most amazing and memorable moments of my life. This nomination means a lot to me because I have worked so hard to get where I am now. The BA (Hons) Fashion Design course has helped me to shape my creativity into a style I can be proud of and confidently project out into the world. I am very excited to be considered for the Create Student Awards as it acts as an affirmation that hard work really does pay off. This nomination has proven to me that tutors have recognised my progression throughout the course, through both challenging and rewarding times. To win this award would not only be a huge personal achievement, but also demonstrate to future employers that I am passionate and dedicated to my work.”
