Ben Hodge / WINNER

BA (Hons) Media and Performance

Ben has been involved in a substantial number of projects whilst at the University. He has achieved several significant outcomes within both the Media and Performance industries and has proven that he is willing to get involved with all creative opportunities presented to him. During his first year, he took part in the Edinburgh Fringe project as part of SalFUNNI, heading up their fundraising and doubling the amount aimed to raise. Ben also volunteered to perform in a production for Salford Pride to help raise awareness of homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. During the pandemic he worked hard to keep other students motivated and became a professional partner with local improv troupe ComedySportz.

Whilst acting as both a course representative and school rep. Ben has also been Trans Officer with the Students Union for the past two years and currently acts as secretary for the BSL Society. Ben has been an extraordinary student, maintaining his humility and working to have a positive voice for trans rights on campus and outside in the wider community.

Ben says “Being nominated is a huge honour and really makes the last three years of hard work worth it. To think that my tutors and other staff believe that my work should be rewarded is something that makes me feel so grateful to everyone within the performance study area for their help, direction, and their belief in me and my peers. I feel so grateful to those who have nominated me, I couldn’t have gotten to this point without your support.”
