Faith Hiles / WINNER

BA (Hons) Dance

Faith has been a model student from day one at Salford, with 100% attendance and a tangible dedication and talent for her discipline. Since joining the BA (Hons) Dance programme, Faith has been involved in SUDS Salford University Dance Society where she has performed and choreographed performances for students across the University. As part of this, Faith coordinated and took part in a number of events tackling issues such as climate change and women’s rights, plus flash mobs and corporate performances including a 12 hour ‘Danceathon’ for Mind charity.

As a child, Faith was diagnosed with Alopecia. A couple of years ago, Faith took the decision to stop wearing her wigs and strives to raise awareness of Alopecia through dance. She has played an active role in the Hair Heals Organisation as a key speaker discussing mental health, wellbeing, nutrition and beauty perception. During lockdown, she also organised extra-curricular fitness classes for her peers via Zoom. Faith is a genuinely kind and wonderfully generous student, through and through.

Faith says “Being nominated has made me take a step back and look at my development as a dancer and individual, and my growth in confidence and strength through my university journey. I have gained knowledge, friends, experiences and learned so much about myself which I am grateful to the University of Salford for. From starting as a very shy first year, to a confident and independent individual today, being nominated means so much to me as my efforts and development hasn’t gone unnoticed and enables me to grow in confidence more due to the continued support from the University.”
