Tim Isherwood

Associate Dean: International / Salford School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology

Tim says ‘The process of judging and selecting the recipients of this award is always fascinating. It enables me to gain a greater understanding of the variety of activities, responsibilities and interests that our international students have, and bring to their studies and the wider culture of the University.

This year has seen a wonderful collection of successes that determine the commitment, tenacity, innovation, and entrepreneurial skills employed within a wide variety of projects undertaken by our international cohort. It is testament to their creativity and interdisciplinary awareness that they have been able to consider collaborative and independent practices beyond their academic studies, that compliment and enhance their employability, environment, and those around them.

All students nominated in the International Student Award category have achieved significant success, and should be rightly proud of their work. They act as ambassadors for the School, as well as setting a benchmark for all other students, be them from overseas, or within the UK. Many congratulations to all!”

Tim has taught across several courses in his time at the University of Salford, notably BA (Hons) Graphic Design, as well as being Programme Leader for a number of post-graduate courses, including MA Visual Communication. His research work and professional practice includes exhibiting artwork in national exhibitions and international conferences. He focusses on the manipulation and interpretation of typographic form, questioning the role of typographic form within language and wider communicative processes. Techniques include multiple processes, from GPS technology, hand painted canvasses, film/animation and a variety of print-based techniques.
