New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and this year it’s going to be a little different.
Thanks to the virtual world we’ve got plenty of ways to ring in the new year in a COVID-safe way!
Take a look!?
24 HOUR NEW YEAR’S EVE LIVESTREAM PARTY
After closing its doors in 1997, Manchester’s legendary club The Hacienda has been recreated as a virtual nightclub.
The Hacienda’s 24 hour party begins at 10am on NYE. You can expect the likes of DJ Paulette, David Morales, Danny Tenaglia and more! Party hosts include Greg Wilson, Jon Desilva, Todd Terry and Norman Jay MBE.
You can join in on the fun at http://unitedwestream.co.uk/ any time after 10am on 31 December, and the best part – it’s free!
THE MINDFUL NEW YEAR’S EVE EXPERIENCE
I think we could all do with a bit of mindfulness after making it to the end of this crazy year!
By registering for The Mindful New Year’s Eve Experience you can expect a day filled with mini-workshops, mindful movement sessions, guided meditations and much more. From 31 December 12:00pm – 1 January 12:15am you can join in on the fun for free.
The event will take place via Zoom and you can grab your tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-mindful-new-years-eve-experience-tickets-131466109673?aff=ebdssbonlinesearch
TIMES SQUARE BALL DROP
If, like me, you haven’t yet experienced the Times Square ball drop in person then you’re in luck! This year the iconic New York City Times Square event can be experienced virtually.
The Virtual New Year’s Eve app will be available to download from 19 December and you can explore a virtual reconstruction of the Square…how cool! You can also tune in to a livestream from Times Square from 11:00pm on NYE to see the ball drop and watch Gloria Gaynor perform “I Will Survive” – 2020 mood I know…
You can catch this on the app or on https://livestream.com/accounts/43923/events/9392703
EDINBURGH’S HOGMANAY STREET PARTY GOES VIRTUAL
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is renowned internationally as a huge celebration and this year it’s going virtual. The virtual party promises multi-sensory experiences and many guest performances. Even David Tennant who played Doctor Who will be making an appearance this year!
You can stream the celebrations via www.edinburghshogmanay.com from 29 December – 1 January any time after 7:00pm.
JEAN-MICHEL JARRE LIVE FROM NOTRE-DAME
I don’t know about you but my favourite way to spend NYE is dancing and this event would get anybody in the mood for a groove!
Electronic music producer, Jean-Michel Jarre will be performing in a studio in Paris on NYE while his virtual avatar plays a set against the backdrop of Norte Dame Cathedral in Paris.
The concert begins at 11:25pm CET and you can stream it for free on https://hello.vrchat.com/ from your phone or laptop.
DUA LIPA YOUTUBE LIVE
All you Dua Lipa fans out there, I got you!
“Hello 2021” is an event hosted by YouTube where performers from across the UK, Japan, America, Korea and India will star. Dua Lipa is headlining for the UK and we can also expect performances from Aitch and AJ Tracey! The UK stream will kick off at 10:30pm.
I know I’ll be tuning into Dua Lipa and the Times Square ball drop for sure!
