Shock Radio

About:

Shock Radio is the University of Salford’s Student’s Union’s very own radio station, broadcasting each semester to over 20,000 students across Salford. They’re not just a radio station, they are one of the biggest societies and part of the UK’s Student Radio Association. They have many links to the industry and have been visited by rising stars in music, as well as industry radio presenters. They attend many student radio events such as the SRA Awards and Conference, where their members also have the chance to win awards. They also put on events at the SU, as well as their very own Shock Radio Awards at the end of the year.

Whether you’ve been involved in radio before, or you’re just starting out, they’ve got on-air and off-air opportunities to suit everyone, including; producing, podcasting and technical operations, as well as a variety of roles within the sports, news, visuals and music teams. Whilst most of their members are media students, you don’t have to study radio to get involved in Shock and our past members have come from courses such as Maths, Sports, Drama and Nursing.
