Bags of success at Wallness Lane Tidy Up!

Our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Martin Hall, along with colleagues from Student Life and the Environment & Sustainability team, in Estates, led a clean-up campaign on the area around Wallness Lane yesterday.

This first clean-up event which took place on the afternoon of the 7 June, removed over 100kg of litter from the area!

Although not owned or managed by the University, the area around Wallness Lane, which is located between Northern car park and Frederick Road, is regularly used as a through route by colleagues and students.

We were really pleased with the number of students and colleagues offering their time to this project. As the final total showed, the volunteer’s enthusiasm really made a difference to this environment! Well done and thanks to all who took part, we hope you enjoyed the cakes afterwards!

In line with our Environment and Sustainability Strategy, we hope to work with Salford City Council and the local community to improve this space further. Look out for further similar events in the Autumn term!
