Cycle to Work Scheme underway

The University Cycle to Work Scheme has launched this week as part of the University’s ongoing commitment to encouraging sustainable travel and promoting healthy lifestyles.

The scheme provides staff with the use of a bike and safety equipment on the agreement that the employee then repays the cost over a 12-month period.

There is also a financial incentive as the initiative is an HM Revenue and Customs-approved salary sacrifice scheme, meaning there are significant tax and National Insurance savings available.

The University has partnered with Evans Cycles, one of the UKs largest cycling retailers, to provide the scheme, offering staff a wide range of bikes and equipment to choose from.

Staff from Evans were at the University on Monday to showcase a sample of the cycle related products they offer and answer questions on how the scheme works. Don’t worry if you missed the roadshow, Evans plan to visit again before the current scheme window closes on Friday November 4.
