Moving out of your parents’ house and starting to live alone brings a lot of new challenges, and there is no doubt that one of the most difficult is to learn how to cook for yourself.

Thinking about this, I decided to make a video series showing you how to cook easy recipes, along with my helpful housemate. After all, it is a lot easier to cope with the stresses of university life when you have good food on the table. Here are three simple recipes:

Chicken Curry Ingredients:

Chicken Breast

White Rice

Peppers

Baby Leaf & Rocket Salad

Curry Powder

Cooking Oil

Butter

Salt

Cooking this is a good way to unwind after a long day of lectures. It’s very filling, but easy to make and the different flavours combine perfectly. If you’re unsure whether the chicken is ready just cut one of the pieces down the middle and check to see if it’s cooked through.

Meat Pasta Ingredients:

Spaghetti

Minced Beef

Tomato Sauce

Chopped Onions & Garlic

Parmesan Cheese

Cooking Oil

Salt

The meal that launched a thousand all-nighters! Pasta with a bit of something else is the foundation of student cooking and adding a bit of meat and sauce makes it go a long way. Every student should know how to make this and it’s very cheap too. Good for when you’re on a tight budget.

Tomato Pesto Ingredients:

Whole Wheat Pasta

Pesto Sauce

Cherry Tomatoes

Parmesan Cheese

Salt

Here’s a nice and quick meat-free recipe to make if you don’t have much time to throw something together. This one is great to pack as a lunch if you don’t mind eating it cold, and the quick preparation time makes it ideal if you haven’t got much time in the morning to make something.
