Hey, I’m Jorgina, and I’m a third-year Broadcast Journalism student at the University of Salford. I’m also one of the new student content creators’ here at the university, meaning I’ll be regularly posting content all things Salford and student related.
Since joining Salford, I’ve really thrown myself into uni life. I love Wednesday socials with the rest of Salford Dance Society, solo dates around Manchester, and long runs round MediaCity. After living in Salford for over two years now, I’d like to believe I also know a good few tips and tricks to getting the most out of student life!
HOW DID I END UP AT SALFORD?
When I first started looking at university courses in Sixth Form, I knew I wanted to do something media related. I have been passionate about content creation for a long time, from filming video stars as a kid, to creating YouTube edits as a teen, I’ve always had a keen interest in putting together videos. That passion, on top of my love for English Language, and the nosy gene I inherited from my mum, meant journalism sounded perfect to me. And what better place to study journalism than MediaCity?
WHY SALFORD?
I only attended one university open day and that university was Salford. Some may see that as naïve, but I just knew after my visit to Salford that this was the place for me.
Truthfully, before I had even picked a university course, I knew I would end up studying either in or around Manchester. Manchester has been a city close to my heart from the first time I visited over five years ago for the football, and ever since then I knew I had to live here at some point. Once I decided on journalism as my course, everything seemed to slot into place when I found out about Salford. It was perfect. Salford is close enough to Manchester city centre but far away enough to avoid the constant rush of the city, it has brilliant connections to the media industry and has endless opportunities in journalism that nowhere else offers.

Now I am into my final year at the University of Salford, and I know for definite that I made the right choice. Salford has become my home, and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
