At Salford, we love nothing more than welcoming our alumni back onto campus and taking you on a trip down memory lane, so you can visit your old haunts and learn about our exciting new developments.

We recently had the delight of welcoming back a group of Environmental Science graduates to celebrate their 50th graduation anniversary. The group, who originally graduated in 1974, had managed to reconnect from all across the country; one alumnus had even flown in from Scotland that very day. We were thrilled to hear all the amazing stories the group had to share from their life after university. Many of whom had gone on to establish long distinguished careers within the public sector.

The group enjoyed the best food and drink our Student Union has to offer (some things never change) before embarking on a guided tour around the campus. The tour is specifically catered depending on any points of interest our graduates want to see. In this case, the group were very eager to look around our new science, engineering & environment building.

There is always a strong sense of nostalgia when our graduates return to campus; memories of good times and making new friends are often the subject of conversation. The alumni team are extremely proud to know that after 50 years, the university still holds a significant place in many hearts.

One member of the group, Tim Pagan, was particularly impressed by how much the campus has changed. Tim noted “The campus is a lot bigger now with many more students. Ten times the size of our campus in 1973 so it was great to see so many young people enjoying their university education. The new buildings are impressive and there has clearly been a lot of investment in the campus.”

The university reunion campus tour is not just a trip back in time, but a celebration of the lifelong connections and cherished memories formed during those formative years spent at our beloved institution. It is also a time to reflect upon the profound impact that this university has had on its alumni, who left with a renewed sense of pride and gratitude for their alma mater.
